John Lonsdale

John Lonsdale has been the Executive Producer on our architecture and design series Grand Designs for the last five years. Overseeing multiple re-commissions and a BAFTA award.

Now in its 25th year, John continues to push this prized brand editorially, visually and creatively - evidenced in the strong ratings and focused press attention the series always receives.

Prior to joining Fremantle John was a Series Producer and Director specialising in factual entertainment and documentary across the BBC, ITV, C4, Channel 5 and Discovery. He produced series at IWC, Celador and Shine, including the cutting-edge forensic science show History Cold Case. He also directed episodes of the long-running brand Neighbours From Hell.

Following a false start as a car rental manager, John broke into TV by making his own short films and catching the eye of the right person. He’s glad he made the switch and has never looked back!
