Andreae’s Naked gets C5 order

UK broadcaster Channel 5 (C5) has commissioned a new survival format from the creator of Discovery’s break-out hit Naked and Afraid.

Stripped and Stranded (4x60’) is from Naked Entertainment, Simon Andreae’s recently-launched factual and entertainment production company, which is backed by FremantleMedia.

The series places families who are at war with themselves on a desert island with nothing but each other for support. To survive they have to shelve their differences and work together as a team.

Each episode of the factual entertainment format focuses on a different family and brings various challenges and opportunities. The show will air on C5 this autumn.

“Stripped and Stranded is a prime example of what we want to be known for: bold, original programming that is simple to grasp but also broad, relatable, and emotionally resonant,” said former Fox and Channel 4 exec Andreae.

“Everyone knows how delicate and complex families can be, but it’s not often you get the chance to see what happens when a family who claim they can’t live with each other suddenly discovers they can’t survive without each other.”

Guy Davies, C5 factual commissioner, added: “This compelling, emotional and entertaining new series underlines the ambition of our factual programming. We’re tackling an age-old problem through a unique new format to see if it’s possible to put an end to family strife.”

The fact ent format is being filmed on a deserted tropical island off the coast of Panama in Central America. Executive producers are Andreae and Mike Warner of Naked Entertainment. FremantleMedia took a 25% stake in Andreae’s firm last September.
